What is Souvenir Expo Spain?

Souvenir Expo Spain (SES) is the leading trade fair for a sector that lacked a showcase of its own: souvenirs and tourist gifts, combined with summer fashion. According to its organisers, it’s the only professional fair in Europe specialising in this universe, created to connect the tourist offering with summer fashion in one place.

The choice of Spain as host is no accident: it’s the second most visited country in the world and, according to the organisers, has more than 57,000 shops devoted to souvenirs, tourist gifts and summer fashion. That scale makes the fair a strategic platform for anyone seeking visibility and tourist distribution channels across Europe, the Americas and Africa. It’s organised by Rota Exhibitions Spain and held annually in Barcelona.

Important: Souvenir Expo Spain is a professional event, aimed at buyers, distributors and manufacturers in the sector. Entry is by professional registration.

What you’ll find at the fair

Souvenir Expo Spain’s great strength is the breadth of its offering, bringing together under one roof two worlds that tend to go hand in hand in the tourist channel:

  • Souvenirs and tourist gifts: keyrings, magnets, mugs, ceramic products, keepsakes and all kinds of pieces with a geographic or cultural stamp.
  • Summer fashion and accessories: beachwear, hats, sandals, beach bags and seasonal accessories.
  • Local craftwork: products with regional identity offering a window into the culture of a place, much in demand in the tourist channel.
  • International networking: a meeting point between wholesalers and retailers from Europe, the Americas and Africa, designed to open new distribution channels.

The timing is no coincidence either: January is when shops in the tourist channel prepare and stock up for the summer season, so the fair arrives just as buyers are planning their orders.

Getting to Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc

The Montjuïc venue is the Fira’s historic site, and it has a big advantage: it’s in the city, at Plaça d’Espanya, not on the outskirts. Its entrances, with the emblematic Venetian towers, are among the most central of any Barcelona fair.

  • Metro: the Espanya stop (lines L1 and L3) is right at the venue entrance.
  • FGC and commuter trains: they also stop at Plaça d’Espanya.
  • From the airport: El Prat is about 15 km away, with an easy public transport connection.

Being right in the centre, Montjuïc is one of the most pleasant venues for a fair: you finish the day and you’re steps from the city, with no long journey back.

Why stay at Hotel Arc La Rambla during Souvenir Expo Spain

For a fair at Montjuïc, the connection from Hotel Arc La Rambla (La Rambla 19-21, next to Drassanes, L3 metro) is hard to beat. Metro line 3 takes you directly, with no changes, from Drassanes to the Espanya stop, which sits at the very entrance of the exhibition grounds. Few Barcelona fairs are this handy.

And when the day ends, you’re back in the historic centre just as fast: step off the metro at Drassanes and Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter and the harbour are steps away for dinner, meeting contacts or unwinding after a day of business.

That same L3 also connects to Passeig de Gràcia and the city’s great icons, in case you use the trip to get to know Barcelona.
