Looking for a different kind of beach day filled with learning and fun? El Centre de la Platja offers free activities for all ages, from children’s games to citizen science workshops, all in a stunning natural setting. Located at Somorrostro Beach, this space invites reflection and enjoyment of the sea through environmental awareness.
Featured activities
El Centre de la Platja combines science, creativity, and environmental awareness in a program designed for all audiences. Here are some of the most original and enriching seasonal highlights:
“Moby Dick a la Mediterrània”
An audiovisual journey through the wonders of whales and cephalopods in the Mediterranean. Perfect for teens and marine-life enthusiasts.
“Mostreig Plàstic 0!”
A hands-on science activity where you can join a real plastic sampling on Somorrostro Beach and support the Observadors del Mar project.
“Escape Room – Salvem la Caretta!”
An escape room-style adventure to solve a mystery and save a sea turtle. Great for families and school groups.
“Marina i la clau del mar”
A storytelling workshop for kids focusing on climate change and traditional fishing knowledge. Includes a fun keychain-making activity using sailor knots.
“Banyistes al rescat!”
A game-based workshop where children learn how to keep the sea clean while having fun. Linked to the European project iBATHWATER.
“Mulla’t els peus i parlem de…”
A walk along the beach that encourages conversations about social change and diversity in the maritime world of Barcelona.

More for young explorers
Kids have their own special space at El Centre de la Platja. Through games, storytelling, and creative challenges, they’ll discover the marine world and learn to care for the environment from an early age.
“La platja, peça a peça”: Building a giant beach-themed puzzle helps children understand what makes a beach accessible, healthy, and sustainable.
“Què en saps, de les meduses?”: A workshop starting with a story to explain what jellyfish are, how they live, and what to do if you get stung. Includes crafts with recycled materials.
“La biodiversitat a les platges de Barcelona”: A discovery game that introduces kids to the marine species of the Catalan coast: starfish, turtles, fish, and more.
“Gimcana de les platges i la biodiversitat”: A diver has lost her logbook—kids must help recover it while learning about beach biodiversity and ecosystem services.
“Reciclem per jugar a la platja”: Participants learn to sort waste and reuse it to create beach toys. A fun and practical way to encourage recycling and creativity.
