Valentine’s Day is coming and you still have no plan to enjoy with your partner? We present you the most romantic places in Barcelona so that you can swear eternal love with the city as a witness
1. Stroll through the Gothic Quarter
The historic center of Barcelona is full of streets and squares with charm where you can give free rein to your most romantic feelings. You can start the tour in the square of Sant Felipe Neri, surrounded by Renaissance-style buildings and with a beautiful fountain in the center. In addition, in the church located in the same square you can see the scars left in the temple by a bomb dropped during the Spanish Civil War.
From there you can keep walking through the narrow streets of the neighborhood until you reach the majestic Cathedral of Barcelona, a Gothic temple of the XV century that will seduce any visitor.
Not far from there, in the Born district, the elegant Santa Maria del Mar, the construction of which inspired the famous novel “La Catedral del Mar” (“Cathedral of the Sea”) by Ildefonso Falcones. The temple was defrayed by the parishioners of the neighborhood during the middle Ages, who helped with their money or with their hard work.
You can finish the tour in the mural called “The world begins with every kiss” by the Catalan artist Joan Fontcuberta. The mural consists of about 4,000 photographs of Barcelona which, all together, reproduce the image of two people kissing.
2. A romantic ballon ride
Do you feel like doing something really different? In Cardedeu (30 minutes by car from Barcelona) you can enjoy a romantic date at 1,000 meters high with a balloon ride, which will allow you to contemplate an unforgettable landscape like you have never seen before.
If you book a private flight, you can even pilot the balloon for a few minutes and, upon landing, a lunch and a bottle of champagne will be waiting for you to round up the experience.
3. Arab baths and relaxing massage for couples
If what you fancy is peace and relaxation, you can not miss the Arab baths by Aire de Barcelona, one of the most fascinating places in the city. Located in the Born district, the complex is a haven for relaxation and pleasure, combining the essence of traditional Roman and Greek baths with Arabian style decor.
You can begin with a revitalizing massage after which you will start a bathing circuit at different temperatures from the warm water of the tepidarium (36º) and the caldarium (40º) to the cold of the frigidarium (16º). Then the steam bath in the Hammam and finally, the friction of the water in the bath of a thousand jets.
And also, depending on your budget, you can enjoy a Thermal Bath with Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Anti stress massages, a Wine Bath or to feel like you float in the Dead Sea with the Salt Bath.
4. Get Lost in the Laberint d’Horta
You and your partner can get lost in the labyrinth of this beautiful neoclassical garden of the eighteenth century, located in the district of Horta Guinardó. An architectural marvel full of beauty and romance, which is also famous for being the stage of films such as “The perfume”.
5. Fun and incredible views in Tibidabo
Well, it may sound like a typical romantic movie… but spending the evening at the Tibidabo is always a safe bet. Apart from having fun with the attractions of one of the oldest amusement park in Europe and getting to know the beauty of the Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, climbing the Tibidabo will allow you to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and contemplate the sea and all the emblematic buildings of Barcelona.
6. The street of the kisses
If you were waiting for a sign from heaven or just for the right moment to take action, the name of this street may be the perfect excuse: Carrer dels Petons, in english The street of the Kisses.
However, the origin of the name has little to do with a romantic tale. Although there are different theories, the most accepted says that, in the eighteenth century, those condemned to death in the nearby Ciudadela could say goodbye to their relatives in this small street located near to the Arc del Triomf.
7. Boat ride in the Ciutadella park
Taking a walk together with your partner through beautiful parks is the quintessential of romanticism. The Parc de la Ciutadella is the largest and oldest Park in Barcelona; it’s a work of art in itself and also has some unique corners full of charm.
Among them the Umbracle, a 128 year old brick building with a wooden roof where you will find species of plants from all over the world.
In addition, the park has a lake where you can have a pleasant and romantic boat ride after which you can have a picnic in any of the nearby areas.
8. Dinner with stars at the Fabra Observatory
Love doesn’t care about the dates and not all romantic plans have to be done on Valentine’s Day… If you are in Barcelona during the summer you can’t miss the Dinner with Stars at the Fabra Observatory, an evening that combines scientific outreach and astronomical observation with a gastronomic proposal.
The evening will begin with a delicious dinner, served on a terrace with stunning views of Barcelona. Then there’s a scientific conference, after which you can visit the museum and finally see the stars through an incredible centenary telescope.

At nightfall you can drop by the Plaza de Espanya and marvel yourself with the water, light and color offered by the Font Màgica de Montjuïc.
Built in 1929 on the occasion of the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, city’s most famous fountain conserves part of its original gears after its recent restoration and marvels its visitors every night by moving to the rhythm of music and lights.
The fountain stops its activity for maintenance between January 7 and February 18, so the appointment in this unique scenario of Barcelona will also have to wait for another occasion.
