More traditional shops in Barcelona

Following the Tour around the traditional shops of Barcelona that we started in our previous post, from Hotel Arc La Rambla we suggest you four new emblematic traditional shops in Barcelona.

Keep reading and discover these shops that hide the story of the city.

Ferretería Bolibar

Ferreteria Bolibar is a family business that has been selling fittings for furniture and home decoration for more than 100 years.

Here you can buy, for example, the famous door handles designed by Antoni Gaudí for the Casa Batlló or the door knobs designed for the Casa Milà.

It is located at Rambla de Catalunya number 43 in the heart of the commercial centre of the city.

Cuchillería Roca

Cuchillería Roca is a shop specializing in all types of cutting tools, from shaving products to household goods.

The shop has been offering more than 6,000 different products since 1911, from collectibles to razor blades.

Located in Plaça del Pi number 3, in the historical centre of the city next to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, the Cuchillería Roca is the ideal opportunity to get to know one of the most representative traditional shops in Barcelona.

El ingenio

El Ingenio is one of the most emblematic traditional shops in Barcelona. They have cabezudos and gigantes (costumed figures), other kind of costumes, party articles and joke games, and is located in the street of Rauric number 6, 5 minutes from Hotel Arc La Rambla.

The origins of El Ingenio go back to 1838 and, from its beginnings, it has been dedicated to the craft of papier-mâché and the manufacture of cabezudos and gigantes.

With more than 181 years of history, El Ingenio has consolidated itself as an icon of the city, so a visit is a must if you want to know a little more about 19th century Barcelona.

Don’t miss out on the work that the Catalan poet Joan Brossa gave to the family and which is on display in the same shop.

Among the most illustrious customers of this establishment we can find the painter Salvador Dalí or the famous Cirque du Soleil.

Sombrerería Obach

If you like hats and caps, you can’t miss the Obach Hat Shop. It is a shop specialized in selling caps, berets and hats located since 1924 in the Street of the Call number 2, next to the Hotel Arc La Rambla.

If you are thinking of visiting these shops, Hotel Arc La Rambla is the ideal hotel to stay in Barcelona thanks to its unbeatable location and services.
