Today we are glad to present you a recipe that you can use during this weekend with your kith to remember when you spent those marvelous days in Barcelona, or to prepare to the ones coming!
Catalan-Style Spinach, also known as Sweet-and-Sour Catalan Spinach when you use canola oil and sherry vinegar, is an easy and common dish in Catalonia, usually served in bars as starter or appetizer to share it with friends while waiting for the main dish.
There are several variations of the Catalan-Style Spinach, as its ingredients are very combinable with other ingredients as chorizo instead of bacon or ham; and sometimes even beans.
It’s a simple, healthy and tasteful Mediterranean dish, with rural origins. It is typically served warm with crusty bread as side dish, and it is suitable to eat all year-round.
The best part is that preparation and cooking time takes around 40 minutes!
Ingredients:
- 2 spinach kilograms
- 2 garlic’s cloves
- 150 grams of Iberian ham
- 3 olive oil tablespoon
- 1 bunch of raisins
- 1 bunch of pine nuts
Preparation:
- In a small saucepan, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the garlic previously minced and one it’s starting to get the tan, add the Iberian ham chopped into little pieces.Once it is tanned or browned, you move it apart in a separate dish.
- In the same saucepan, throw the spinach previously cleaned and strained, and cook them for 10 or 15 minutes.
- Just before moving away the saucepan from the fire, add the raisins and the pine nuts.Leave it for a couple of minutes until the raisins swells and the pine nuts get browned.
- Remove the saucepan from the stove and while is hot, add the pieces of Iberian ham and the minced garlic and mix it.
