Discover the best ice cream shops in Barcelona

Summer is the season for holidays, beaches, swimming pools… and of course, ice cream. Barcelona is full of trendy ice-cream shops where you can beat the heat while enjoying these creamy, refreshing sweets – is your mouth watering just thinking about it? Discover our list of the best ice cream shops in Barcelona.

Where to enjoy the most delicious ice creams in Barcelona

Maximum

Address: La Rambla, 78

Telephone: (+34) 933023067

A 5-minute walk from the Hotel Arc la Rambla you can find Gelats Maximum, one of the most traditional ice cream shops in Barcelona, which has been running since 1940 when La Rambla had little to do with the bustling and tourist street that it is today. But the Maximum not only lives from its history. They offer everything from classic flavours to the most innovative ones such as anis del mono flavour (aniseed liqueur), mojitos or mustard ice cream. Don’t miss it!

Amorino

Address: La Rambla, 125

Telephone: (+34) 932188305

Also on La Rambla you will find this elegant shop, which belongs to a chain of ice-cream shops that has earned success all over the world (it has two more shops in Barcelona) keeping the essence of the best Italian ice-creams. In Amorino they have managed to combine modernity and tradition to create a variety of ice creams such as pistachio, vanilla and other Italian flavours such as amarena or speculoos ice cream. But if there’s one ice cream you can’t miss at Amorino, it’s “l’inimitable”, a chocolate ice cream with a touch of hazelnut so creamy and exquisite that you’ll feel like you’re touching the dessert sky. If you ask for it, Amorino will shape your ice cream like a flower with as many flavors as you want.

Rocambolesc

Address: C/La Rambla, 51

Telephone: –

El Rocambolesc, owned by Jordi Roca (the youngest of the brothers who run the Celler de can Roca) and his wife Ale Rivas, offers ice creams on La Rambla with flavours that seem impossible.

Among its specialities we recommend cranberry, lemon, vanilla and bitter almond ice cream and coconut ice cream with strawberry, honey caviar and violet cloud, as well as ‘Panets’ (hot briox filled with ice cream and toppings) and ‘Bambolescas’ (caramelized almonds).

Vioko

Address: Passeig de Joan de Borbó, 55

Telephone: (+34) 932210652

The first thing that catches your eye when you walk into Vioko is its modern décor, more like an exclusive clothing boutique than an ice cream shop. On their shelves and showcases, the ice creams look like what they are: authentic jewels with chocolate, rose and raspberry flavours, grapefruit and jasmine, vanilla from Madagascar and nearly 50 other varieties that make Vioko a ice-cream reference in Barcelona. In addition, in winter they offer hot chocolate and pastry products that can drive crazy the most exigent palates.

Delacrem

Address: Enric Granados, 15. Barcelona

Telephone: (+34) 930041093

Only 100 percent natural and seasonal ingredients can be found in this small and charming ice cream shop in l’Eixample, and this can be appreciated in the unmistakable flavour of its ice creams made “according to the strictest artisan standards”. A laboratory of aromas and flavours where 21 ice creams of different flavours are produced every day, as well as delicious sorbets, homemade cakes, brownies and a coffee you can’t miss.

Gelaaati di Marco

Address: Carrer de la Llibreteria, 7

Telephone: (+34) 93310505045

It is a paradise in the heart of Barcelona for lovers of healthy sweets. In 2014, Gelaaati di Marco was listed as one of the best ice cream shops in the world by “Dissapore” for its wide selection of flavours and the quality of its products, made with natural ingredients and free of vegetable oils and colourings. Among its creative and surprising menu of ice creams are the Ordal peach with Gramona cava, spicy chocolate (with pepper and avocado), goat cheese and pistachio. In addition, they have lactose-free ice cream and vegan ice cream made from rice or soy milk and they also produce Italian desserts such as tiramisu and cannoli (Italian pastries of the Sicily region).

Eyescream and Friends

Address: Passeig de Joan de Borbó, 30

Telephone: (+34) 932215310 / (+34) 629634651

Having an ice cream has never been more fun than at Eyescream and Friends. Its motto is originality and inspiration in the Korean tradition to serve a product with a texture between ice cream and sorbet, which you can customize by adding “toppings” such as chocolate eyes, strawberry syrup that simulates blood or fruit shaped like a tongue that will be a diversion for children…and not so children 😉

La Heladería Mexicana

Address: Carrer de la Mestrança, 49

Telephone: (+34) 931733376

A different proposal to close our list. Honoring its name, the restaurant offers 100% natural and vegan ice cream and sorbets with Mexican and tropical fruit flavors. Among other delights you can taste the agave ice sorbet, guava ice sorbet or a spicy chocolate ice cream with rattlesnake chili. Kakigori, Gocce di latte, Orxateria El Tio Che, Parallelo Gelato…are other of the many artisan ice cream shops in Barcelona that are also worth a visit. If you have any questions about which one to choose, do not hesitate to contact our staff, we will be happy to help you!
