About the Opera
Based on the novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the opera narrates the impossible love between the young poet Werther and Charlotte, who is betrothed to Albert. It is a deeply emotional drama that explores passion, inner conflict, and the protagonist’s tragic end.
The score is one of the most representative of the late 19th-century French repertoire, renowned for its lyricism and famous arias such as “Pourquoi me réveiller.”
