Daylight saving time end

Mind that if you are travelling!

During the early morning of Saturday 24th of October to Sunday 25th, at 3am we change our clocks to 2. Although not used by the majority of the world’s countries, daylight saving time is common in the Western world.



The blue ones are the part where DST is applied. The orange ones are the ones where it was used to be applies. The red ones never applied the DTS

This time change is done to take advantage of daylight hours and energy savings (which can reach 5%), but also to reduce energy consumption, pollution and it is always beneficial to the health.

Another alleged benefit of the time change is to reduce the number of traffic accidents, thanks to a more natural light and better lighting.

The change in daylight hours can have effects on circadian rhythms – are cycles of 24 hours in which organs fulfill their functions and are adapted to daylight and night – affecting some people in their sleep patterns and, consequently, mood.

People can present symptoms of drowsiness, irritability, nervousness, headaches and difficulty maintaining attention and concentration; anyways, it is not the usual.

If you want to prevent the effects of the time change about your health follow these simple tips:

  • Avoid long naps for you to overcome fatigue.
  • Keep a routine in your schedule of meals and go to sleep.
  • Avoiding stimulants like caffeine and drug, alcohol and tobacco.
  • Practice exercise will help you enjoy a good mood.
  • Take advantage of daylight hours as possible, reducing your activity late in the day.
